Last week England’s captain Rio Ferdinand returned home from South Africa. He got injured before the World Cup after a clash with Emile Heskey and will not be participating in the World Cup for England. His place was taken my Michael Dawson who was recalled into the team by Capello. Rio will obviously be resting over the summer before premiership starts but what will be doing in his free time. There are many things I can recommend to him like, play online poker, play Xbox, PS3, or go on a holiday with family.

I did a survey online asking 300 people on what Rio can do over the summer. Some said he should spend time with his family and just rest. As this is the only time footballers get to spend time with the family properly. Some said he needs to rest and train hard back to fitness. Some replied back saying that the time for Rio is up as he gets injured quite often as he has done for Manchester United last season.

 

Some wanted him to stay with the current England’s squad to support them and he is also looked at one of the leader in the squad. I don’t think that is a wise idea. If your work manager is ill and at work would you really want to see him/her there next to you coughing and sneezing. I am pretty sure that is a no. So why would you want injured Rio in the team as he can’t even train. Some question why is David Beckham there then but he can atleast train with the squad, Rio will just get bored.

I would recommened Ferdinand to have few games of absolute poker or Everest poker while watching the game and resting. Poker also helps in sharpening the mind and will keep his mind away from other things.
