Insulated curtains are a brilliant investment for your home. The lining on the curtains not only keeps out cold and heat, but it additionally blocks out sunlight, that may scale back your heating and cooling bills as well. Insulated curtains can even facilitate to keep street noise out of your home. If your insulated curtains are damaged, do not despair. Fixing them is easy and inexpensive.
Remove the worn out curtain from the window plus examine the space which needs repairing. For holes or tears within the insulation, a fabric patch will work best. First measure the area which needs the patch and cut out a bit of insulated lining cloth big enough to cover the hole. Use straight pins to pin the new piece of lining directly over the gap on the older insulation.
Hand-sew the patch onto the old lining. Using a whip stitch or a back stitch, carefully sew along the edge of the patch. Take care to purely sew through the lining and not through the curtain itself. Once you’ve sewn on the patch, take away the straight pins.
Remove all of the old insulation if it can’t be patched. In this instance, lay the insulated curtain on flat surface plus use the seam ripper to take away the seam holding the old lining in place. Measure the length and width of the curtain to determine what size the new lining must be.
Measure out a piece of insulated lining material that corresponds to the scale of the curtain. Lay the lining directly on top of the curtain. Fold a seam along each side and the final bottom of the curtain and secure with the straight pins. Pin the top of the lining on to the top of the curtain.
Sew all the side and bottom seams closed, using a sewing machine. Take away the straight pins and sew a flat, even seam. At the top of the curtain, sew the liner to the curtain just below the rod pocket or tabs.
